The Health Service Executive invites tenders from companies for a National Contract for the Provision of Hardware Equipment for the Implementation of the Falsified Medicines Directive in a Healthcare Setting.
The scope of the contract will be to provide FMD Hardware Equipment, namely handheld scanners (with associated desk / wall mount) and laptop carts to enable a healthcare institution to verify the authenticity of each pack of prescription medicines delivered prior to dispensing to patients.

The accelerated procedure is justified as the Falsified Medicines Directive comes into force on 9th February 2019 and in order to leave sufficient time for the requirements listed below it is necessary to utilise the shorter timelines under Regulation 27 (3):

• Contract Finalisation;
• Implementation in all Healthcare Institutions.
