This framework agreement will provide a mechanism for Iarnród Éireann to hire suitably qualified labour such as charge-hands, tradespersons and general operatives to assist in carrying out scheduled maintenance and emergency services on the rail network and within depots.

Description of the procurement

Lot 1 – General labour services
IE, across all departments and geographic areas, have an on-going requirement for general labour to assist in the delivery of projects in both scheduled and unplanned / emergency maintenance activities. Such activities may be delivered either during day-time or night-time hours.
General labour activities consist of the provision of personnel to provide unskilled labour including, activities such as working on bridge repairs assisting Trades people working on or near the railway line, a chargehand or Supervisor may also be required for certain jobs The contractor will have to provide transportation for their personnel and associated hand tools.

Specific trade support services for mechanical engineering
The mechanical engineering department will require the services of tradespeople which can include but is not limited to the following trades Fitters,Fitter Turner, Electricians,Auto electricians, Diesel engine mechanics,Bodymakers, repair craftworkers,flooring trades,Technicians,Coachbuilders,Trimmers,Painters and Coded welders to support the activities undertaken within its maintenance depots. The primary maintenance depots are located at (i) Portlaoise, (ii) Drogheda (iii) Limerick (iv) Inchicore, and (v) Fairview, Dublin. (vi)Inchicore Railway works and (vii) support facilities at Connolly depot,Heuston depot & Cork depot.

Specific trade support services for the infrastructure manager
The infrastructure management department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all elements of the rail system in Ireland, including but not limited to tracks, signalling systems, buildings, structures etc.
To support the infrastructure management department the following services of tradespeople which can include but is not limited to the following trades will be required:
Carpenter, Mason, Linemen, Structural Welder, Plasterer, Block layer, Painter, Fibre Jointer, Rigger, Banksman/Slinger and Fibre maintenance Team.
