CIT has an ongoing programme of new build and refurbishment projects in accordance with its Strategic plan and Masterplan. The Institute, on occasions, requires the services of a qualified architect to advise, plan, support and manage such projects in compliance with the appointed Contractor’s nominated architect will play a central role in the implementation and management of CIT’s capital building programme, refurbishment works and will participate as a key member of the Institute’s Buildings & Estates team.

Description of the procurement

CIT has an ongoing programme of new build and refurbishment projects in accordance with its Strategic plan and Masterplan. The Institute, on occasions, requires the services of a qualified architect to advise, plan, support and manage such projects in compliance with the New Capital Works Management Framework.
The Institute has a requirement for a part-time embedded architectural support service. The appointed Contractor’s nominated architect will play a central role in the implementation and management of CIT’s capital building programme, refurbishment works and will participate as a key member of the Institute’s Buildings & Estates team.
In the event of the embedded architect being unavailable e.g. due to annual leave, illness etc. the Contractor will make alternative provision of equal experience/standing. All such replacement covers shall only be made in express agreement with the Institute.
The embedded architect will report directly to Mr Kevin McCarthy, Buildings Officer, CIT.
Role of Embedded Architect
The architectural support services will include, but not limited to:
- Advising on developing design philosophy for identified projects including interior design
- Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations including planning permission, fire safety and disability certification
- Advising on procurement of services and works
- Providing regular reports and information on designated projects
- Ensuring compliance with Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations, 2013
- Fulfil the role of architect on selected projects.
- Fulfil the role of Client Representative on selected projects
- Fulfil the role Assigned Certifier on selected projects
- Ensure projects are designed in compliance with requirements of ISO 50001 and assist with reviews of ISO 50001.
