ISS has a requirement to deliver effective IT Software development and integrated systems by:
• Reducing the dependency on systems/suppliers for ‘custom’ developments which are required to deliver the mainstream academic and administrative systems. This is particularly an issue with regard to the student records system which is a key component of the system architecture.
• Implementing a clear system architecture with associated defined linkages with defined benefits and outcomes.
• Reducing the risk of loss of accuracy resulting from data replication across a number of ‘silos’.
• Reducing the risk of increasing use of ‘niche’ solutions which do not adequately secure key University data.
