Short description

PMBRC (Pharmaceutical and Molecular Biotechnology Research Centre) is an applied research centre which aims to support the sustainable growth of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry in the south east of Ireland. Situated in the heart of the region on the WIT campus, the centre seeks to stimulate research and innovation, allowing companies to embed R&D into their activities.
Due to increased R&D activity relating to the development of sensor technologies for biomedical applications, the PMBRC has recently secured funding to develop a smart sensing systems development platform at their R&D site located in Waterford Institute of Technology. A key component of this platform is an Additive Printing Platform for Materials Deposition that allows the 2-D and quasi 3-D printing of a range of materials, metals, ceramics, polymers, organic molecules and biomaterials. The system will be used to develop a range of smart technologies for the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries.
