Description of the procurement
The Weed Spraying System – Shall be designed to fit on an existing self-propelled Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV). The supplier will be required to obtain all stages of approval for the proposed Weedspray System in accordance with Iarnród Éireann and the Commission for Railway Regulation (CRR) requirements. The existing water tanks installed on the unit have an 18,000 litre capacity and can be utilised to facilitate supply of water to the Weed Spray System.
Herbicide that may be applied:-
• Glyphosate
• 2,4-D
• Diflufenican
• Flazasulfuron
• Glufosinate Ammonium
The Weed Spraying System shall be designed to be used for Chemical weed control on and near the track on the IE Network
The Weed Spraying System shall be designed with the ability to be disassembled from the MPV so that the vehicle can be used for other track maintenance work and carrying other equipment.
The Weed Spraying System shall fully comply with the relevant UIC codes
and EN standards including EN standards and UIC codes regarding environment
and safety protection.
The MPV has two cabins (one on each end). Both cabins shall have control panels for operating the Weed Spray System. The Operator Panels in each cab shall be removable for decommissioning the Weed Spraying System after Weed spray Operations.
The Weed Spraying System shall be designed to provide easy and safe access to all the systems in order to perform maintenance and running checks in the track and in the depot, according to EN and UIC standards.
