IÉ is seeking tenders by suitably qualified companies for the supply of piled rubber springs and rubber seat primary suspension required for Irish Rail’s 22000 Intercity DMU fleet.
There are 234 carriages in the 22000 fleet; each carriage is fitted with 16 piled rubber springs (8 per bogie). The springs and suspension will be changed out as part of a bogie overhaul approximately over the next four years. Both items are safety critical components.

Objective criteria for choosing the limited number of candidates:
The supply of Piled Rubber Springs and Rubber Seat Primary Suspensions are deemed to be safety critical products which are subject to stringent regulatory controls and procedures.
Due to the technical nature of the supply contract, it may be impractical to invite all companies who submit a pre-qualification questionnaire to tender.
IE do not know at this stage the quantity or quality of the pre-qualification submissions it will receive following placement of this call for competition.
IE do however invisage, subject to the above, that approximately 5 companies may be invited to tender.
