Description of the procurement

This is a call to competition by IE for the procurement of an Aluminothermic Process Supplier for the supply and delivery of Aluminothermic Welding Consumables for: (1) Single Use Crucible (2) Long Life Crucible.
Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) invites Applications from suitably qualified companies to participate in the Pre-Qualification process:-
(1) To be appointed as the IE Aluminothermic Welding Process Supplier which shall include annual Training & Certification services for IE staff and external contractors.
(2) For the Supply and delivery of Aluminothermic welding consumables.
Suppliers will need to meet the requirements of Iarnród Éireann Safety Management Standard CCE-SMS-009 (copy appended to the OJEU notice), which sets out the requirements for the Approval of Suppliers of Safety Critical Equipment within the CCE Department.
Iarnród Éireann have a requirement for the welding of Railway steel rails in situ. The estimated volume will be 3,000-5,000 welds per year with a possibility of more. The contract involves the supply of welding consumables portions, moulds, iron works and welding tools - for a range of rail sections which shall be predominantly 54kg, 60kg and 113lb (56kg). There may also be requirements for 50Kg, 95lb and 85lb rail sections. The contract shall also make provision for Wide Gap weld portions for all these rail sections. Alternative technologies will be considered. Applicants must be ISO Certified and welding processes must conform to relevant European Standards e.g. EN14730.
