Description of the procurement

The Department of Radiology in Beaumont Hospital requires the provision of two high end range ultrasound systems. Beaumont Hospital is a high-volume imaging centre with ten sonographers, 12 radiology registrars and 19 radiologists who can carry out/report ultrasound scans. The Contracting Authority therefore requires the provision of equipment that is consistent, reproducible and does not vary across user or machine.
In first instance, a managed equipment service contract of five years’ duration will be entered into with the successful tenderer, encompassing the provision of two high end range ultrasound machines, the delivery of initial and ongoing training and the provision of all required support and maintenance. Upon the expiry of this five year managed equipment service contract, ownership of the equipment in question will transfer to the Contracting Authority.
Following the expiry of the initial five year managed equipment service contract, and as a recurring option that may be availed of solely at the discretion of the Contracting Authority, subsequent one-year contracts for the support and maintenance of the systems in question may be awarded until the obsolescence of the equipment.
In addition to the core managed equipment service contract relating to the provision of two high end range ultrasound machines, the Contracting Authority reserves the right to procure additional ultrasound equipment from the successful tenderer at any point during the initial five-year contract period. Such additional purchases may comprise the capital purchase of equipment, the awarding of separate managed equipment service contracts or the adjustment of the core managed equipment service contract to take into account the cost of additional machines.
