Description of the procurement

Maynooth University seeks to have the best 'Students’ Centre in Ireland' - a
world class students' centre - distinctive and original. The Student Centre
should reflect “The Maynooth Experience” - welcoming, friendly, vibrant and
inclusive. It must have the highest design quality, environmental sustainability
and procurement approach; creating a contemporary, innovative and exciting
student environment. Our vision is to provide students with a home for renewal,
participation, and performance. As a home it is an easily found destination that
welcomes students and brings to them a sense of belonging, ownership and
shelter where a variety of activities happen day and night. It is thus a place to
meet friends and new acquaintances and get re-charged during the course of
daily student life. It is a place of inventive student-initiated experimentation
where users experience flexible and innovative spaces with a hybrid of activities
changing hourly, daily or monthly. As Irelands only University town, the Student
Centre will mirror the thriving bustle of Maynooth. The new Students’ Centre will
be the landmark building on the North Campus.
Our purpose is to provide students with a home from home, a community space
that welcomes and encourages participation, gathering and belonging and
provides services and supports in response to the ongoing needs of the growing
student body. The centre must proudly celebrate a sense of student ownership,
the place on campus that students actively identify as their own. As the
representative body for students, Maynooth Students’ Union representation,
facilities and services will be the prominent aspect of the student centre – which
includes Clubs and Societies, performance and social spaces. The centre will
seamlessly blend these with front facing services which focus on student care
and wellbeing. The centre will enable the highest standards of service delivery
through best in class facility provision.
