Short description

TII have a requirement to modify the existing tram maintenance depot at
Sandyford in order to accommodate longer trams. It is necessary to extend the
existing depot workshop and administration section of the building. TII requires a contractor with expertise in the construction of industrial building works and expertise in the
procurement and management of a range of particular subcontractors, including
roofing and cladding, curtain walling and glazing, building services (mechanical
and electrical), demolition, piling, temporary works, drainage and utilities,
structural engineering, and ideally light rail specific subcontractors for track works.

Description of the procurement

TII list the following detail of the works required:
• A building extension of approx. 18m (approx. 900 m2) to the south east of the existing depot building including temporary works, building services and other subcontract works, and external works associated with this element;
• A building extension of approx. 14.5m (approx. 700 m2) to the north west of the existing depot building including temporary works, building services works and external works associated with this element;
• Internal reconfigurations to the proposed and current administration building and depot stores including building works, building services, electrical works and building finishes works associated with this element;
• Provision of new tracks for additional tram stabling, horizontal and vertical realignment of existing track works on the north and south maintenance shed fans, change of some sections of existing track types (ballast-embedded-slab-plinth) and interface management with the Contracting Authority’s contractor for associated modifications and additions to the current traction power and Overhead Conductor System (OCS) including temporary works associated with this element;
• Any other related works required by the Contracting Authority.
This Contract will be carried out under either the Public Works Contract
Form: 1 or 3. This will be confirmed at tender stage.
