Description of the procurement
The Marine Institute wishes to invite Applicants to submit a tender under an Open
Procedure for the following:
Supply of Long Range Omni directional scientific fisheries sonar including
transducer, cabling, topside equipment, operating software and all other
requirements as laid out in the tender document.
Ocean Science Services, a service area of the Marine Institute, is comprised of
three sections: (A) Research Vessel Operations (RVOps), responsible for the
management of the Research Vessels Celtic Explorer and Celtic Voyager. (B)
Advanced Mapping Services (AMS) providing the operational facilities, personnel
and skills to support the national resource mapping project, INFOMAR being
undertaken in partnership with the Geological Survey of Ireland and (C)
Oceanographic Services, providing comprehensive oceanographic services
underpinning many national programmes.
The Celtic Explorer is operated by the RVops section and is made available to
internal and external users. Internal users include the Fisheries Ecosystems and
advisory section (FEAS) and they utilse the Celtic Explorer for 84 days acoustic
fisheries surveys per year . A scientific fisheries omni directional sonar is a key
requirement for these surveys and a replacement unit for the existing SP270 unit
which has been in the vessel since build is required.
Price is not the only award criterion and all criteria are stated only in the procurement documents
