Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) are seeking to award a contract, to a single entity, for the provision of specialist engineering services on components deemed to be of a safety critical nature by the Safety Management System within the Chief Mechanical Engineering department.
The proposed contract will cover in the region of 80 sets of drive shafts, per annum, from a variety of Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) fleets and will cover both primary and secondary shafts and all work will be undertaken strictly in line with 'TU/TS0075 Issue 3, Revision A - Cardan Shaft Overhaul' specification.

Description of the procurement

Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) are seeking to award a contract, to a single entity, for the
provision of specialist engineering services on components deemed to be of a
safety critical nature by the Safety Management System within the Chief Mechanical Engineering department.
The proposed contract will cover in the region of 80 sets of drive shafts, per annum, from a variety of Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) fleets and will cover both primary and secondary shafts and all work will be undertaken strictly in line with 'TU/TS0075 Issue 3, Revision A - Cardan Shaft Overhaul' specification.
All shafts are manufactured by GKN and the scope of the overhaul requirement will cover (but not limited to) the assembly, repair, welding and non-destructive testing of shafts from IÉ's fleets (2600,2800,29000 and 22000) of DMU.

Objective criteria for choosing the limited number of candidates:
At this moment, IÉ do not know the quantity or quality of PQQ submissions it will receive. However, to ensure adequate competition is maintained, it is hoped that a minimum of 4 companies will pre-qualify and will be invited to tender.
As the subject matter of this tender process relates to safety critical components and equipment, IÉ will be seeking to only invite a shortlist of the most suitable candidates to tender. Companies will be scored and ranked in line with the advertised selection criteria which will be contained within the PQQ which will be issued to all companies who express an interest in participating in the process.
