Description of the procurement

The Coillte group request expressions of interest from suitably qualified
candidates for a Telemetry system capable of collecting live production data from
its contractor harvesting fleet, integrating the data from the disparate sources into
a central repository facilitating live monitoring and reporting of harvest processes.
The required hardware and software solution should cover at least the following
areas:
• In cab device /interface with existing harvesting telemetry
• Data transmission
• Data storage/Data warehouse
• Data analysis and reporting
The solution must be capable of:-
• Interfacing with the telemetry on Coillte’s contractor harvesting fleet and
• Supporting robust, long-distance wireless communications in challenging,
large scale environments such as those found in the Coillte estate.
• Integrating data from the disparate sources into a central repository or Data
Warehouse (DW). The DW will store current and historical data.
• Facilitating live monitoring of harvesting processes as well as providing real-
time harvest process reports and creating analytical reports for knowledge
workers throughout the enterprise.
The in cab data capture and transmission devices must be robust enough to be
used outdoors and in machines working in the forest exposed to the elements.
The solution must be capable of storing live data from any forest to a location
accessible to Coillte staff.
The solution must be able to integrate and access data from different systems
used in harvesting machines and forwarders without having to make changes to
those systems.
This will be a Competitive Dialogue process consisting of an initial selection and
dialogue phase followed by a formal tender phase. The information at dialogue
stage can be represented as indicative so approximate figures could be submitted
and more detailed information will be supplied at tender stage.
