The development will consist of the design and construction of 429. no.
bedspaces, generally arranged in 57 units of 6 en-suite bedrooms, 11 units of 5
en-suite bedrooms and 8 units of 4 en-suite bedrooms, with communal living area
in each unit. Further communal areas & facilities, ancillary office/reception
accommodation, internal plant/service rooms, refuse storage and covered cycle
storage facilities are also provided to serve the entire development. The
development will be in 1 no. 5 storey block and 3 no. 3 & 4 storey blocks, with
associated courtyards, pedestrian access, vehicular access and dropoff/turning
facilities, including bus shelter and parking facilities for the less mobile. Vehicular
access to the development is via the existing Corrib Village access road. The
development will include intensive site landscaping & boundary treatment,
footpath links to Campus networks, building signage, totem signage/sculpture,
connections to services and all associated works.

It is intended that the existing design team shall be novated to the successful design and build contractor.
The development will be constructed on a green field site on the north campus of the University at Upper Newcastle Rd.
The selected site is zoned civic cultural, institutional and adjacent to residential areas on the Upper Newcastle Rd. The proposed development will be located west of the existing Corrib village student accommodation. The site is located just south of the recently completed LSCI and SRB buildings and is bounded to the west by the residential homes along Newcastle Rd. To the south the site is bounded by the University’s observatory.
The accommodation is required for immediate fitout and setup on mid-July 2018 to allow for adequate setup in advance of the 2018/19 academic year student intake.
The successful tenderer must provide a bond, issued by an approved bank or
insurance company, in the sum of 10% of the contract price for the due
performance of the contract.
In accordance with the public works contract for Building Works to be entered
into with the successful tenderer.
Requests to participate may be submitted by a single candidate or by a consortium. A consortium will not be required to convert into a specific legal form in order to submit a request to participate, but may be required to do so prior to award of the contract if the Authority considers it necessary to ensure that the contract is carried out to its satisfaction. The Authority also reserves the right to contract with each member of the consortium on the basis of joint and several liability, or with 1 member of the consortium as a main contractor with a number of sub-contractors, or on any other basis the Authority considers appropriate.

NUI Galway will undertake the required standstill period of at least 14 calendar days at the point information on the publication of the contract award notice is communicated to unsuccessful tenderers. This period allows unsuccessful tenderers to seek further debriefing from the contracting authority before the contract is entered into. Applicants have two working days from the publication of the contract award decision to request additional debriefing and that information has to be provided a minimum of three working days before the expiry of the standstill period. Such additional information should be required from the addressee in Section I.1. The purpose of the standstill period referred to above is to allow parties to apply to the Courts to set aside the award decision before the contract is entered into.
