Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) wish to establish a qualification system (QS) for the provision of metal fabrication services.

Metal fabrication services are required to support the ongoing maintenance of the rolling stock fleet and general infrastructure (railings, station maintenance etc) for both preventative maintenance and modification works.

IÉ spend in the region of €200,000 per annum on metal fabrication services with the vast majority of requirements costing between €1,000 and €3,000. On occasion, larger requirements may present themselves however it is envisaged that any requirement larger than €100,000 would be tendered separately.

All requirements between €500 and €50,000 will be issued to a number (between 3 and 5) of companies participating in the qualification system and will be based on their listed experience and their geographical location in proximity to where the requirement is needed.

All requirements between €50,001 and €100,000 will be issued to all companies participating in the qualification system.

This QS was originally advertised as a framework agreement (eTenders Reference 99761 and TED Reference 2015/S 189-343537) however due to the relatively low expenditure and infrequent nature of the IÉ requirements, this requirement has been changed to a QS.

Companies who have already submitted a PQQ as part of the framework agreement do not need to re-apply.
