    Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

    The intention is to establish a Framework Agreement with a single supplier. The

    term of the Framework Agreement is for 7 years. This framework is being put in

    place for use by HEAnet and its member institutions, www.heanet.ie/about/client-

    list contains the up to date list.

    HEAnet wishes to replace existing network infrastructure, currently providing

    service in approximately 200 sites spread across Ireland, with a new solution.

    Additionally, HEAnet has an ongoing requirement for future network equipment

    and support services to be incorporated into the solution. The purpose of this

    framework is to allow HEAnet and its member institutions to purchase equipment

    and services sought in this specification (hereafter referred to as the Required

    Services) in support of operations.

    The requirements of this tender for the initial Call-Off contract cover at a high

    level:

    • Network solution design to provide layer 2 and layer 3 IP services to HEAnet

    and its clients. The layer 2 services are edge-to-edge Ethernet E-LINE and E-

    LAN. The layer 3 IP services are L3VPN and access to the General Internet. In

    both layer 2 and layer 3 services, access ports are at 1Gbit/s and 10Gbit/s.

    • Equipment supply, installation and transition of existing services in

    approximately 200 sites spread across Ireland

    • Network management solution supply and implementation for the provision

    of the above mentioned network services

    • Support services to cover all the elements of the supplied network

    equipment and network management solutions. Tender Proposal include the

    support and maintenance of the solution for an initial period of 3 years and the

    option for 2 year increments up to the maximum duration of the framework at the

    discretion of HEAnet

    Subsequent Call-off contracts are expected to be used for the supply of:

    • Additional equipment and support services to be part of the solution when

    and if need arise

    • Professional services
