The desire for the new AV solution in DCU is for systems that are extremely reliable and easy to operate, but with considerable flexibility in setup. Most systems will be integrated into the rooms, although some will remain portable to allow for flexibility throughout the spaces. Systems will be remotely controlled and monitored, with add-ins for room scheduling, usage and maintenance reporting. Interfaces will be designed so that they have the same touch and feel for each room so that it is easy for staff to use and operate regardless of location.

In-room audio visual presentations, which require the display of computer, laptop, and other related electronic media materials, will make use of a wall mounted projector screen and projector display sized appropriately for the room. One Lectern position will be provided for in each room as per room schedule (Appendix 1). A poke-thru opening in the lectern will allow for cables to be presented to the user from the approved HDBaseT transmitter which in turn will allow for connection of digital video sources to the display over a HDBaseT network.

The spaces will include the capability to integrate a mobile lecture capture system as per enclosed specification. A pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) or fixed camera depending on the size of the space will be mounted on the ceiling and associated cabling installed and terminated on the lectern for ease of connection to the mobile units. A microphone will be included in the mobile unit thus alleviating the need for any connections within the space.

The audio signals associated with all AV source will be routed to an appropriate program sound reinforcement system where appropriate utilising distributed ceiling speakers or wall mounted speakers where the necessity arises.

Control of the display, associated AV signal routing and program audio level will be achieved via an approved AV controller which will include 10 Push Buttons for controlling functions and where appropriate this should include for lighting control also. Some larger rooms will have touchscreen control as per room schedule (Appendix 2).

Options for additional Classroom technology/AV equipment and/or services may be required over the term of this agreement as technology advances and the university’s needs develop.

Where installation or ongoing support is undertaken by a successful tenderer, please note that they will be required to liaise with ISS for network and IT related matters.

Estimated cost excluding VAT: 1000000  EUR
