Extension to existing Glucksman Library & Information Services Building

The development consists of the design and construction of circa 7,500m2 of an
extension to the existing GLISB on the South Campus of the University of
Limerick. The development ties into the existing library and information services
building, which is to remain in operation for the duration of the works. The
proposed facility comprises a basement level with four levels of accommodation
above ground. Plant and ancillary services have been accommodated at roof level
and basement level.
The development consists of the design and construction of circa 7,500m2 of an extension to the existing Glucksman Library & Information Services Building on the South Campus of the University of Limerick. The development ties into the existing library and information services building, which is to remain in operation for the duration of the works. The proposed facility comprises a basement level with four levels of accommodation above ground. Plant and ancillary services have been accommodated at roof level and basement level. The accommodation includes for reading and study areas, a special collections facility, collaboration spaces, IT facilities including high end media spaces, offices and associated ancillary spaces in a combination of open plan and cellular environments. The works will also incorporate the design and construction of an enhanced building fabric and external and ancillary works. An automated storage retrieval system is proposed for the bulk storage and retrieval of collections. It is intended that the existing design team shall be novated to the successful design and build contractor.
The successful tenderer must provide a bond, issued by an approved bank or insurance company, in the sum of 10% of the contract price for the due performance of the contract.
In accordance with the public works contract for Building Works to be entered into with the successful tenderer.
Requests to participate may be submitted by a single candidate or by a consortium. A consortium will not be required to convert into a specific legal form in order to submit a request to participate, but may be required to do so prior to award of the contract if the Authority considers it necessary to ensure that the contract is carried out to its satisfaction. The Authority also reserves the right to contract with each member of the consortium on the basis of joint and several liability, or with 1 member of the consortium as a main contractor with a number of sub-contractors, or on any other basis the Authority considers appropriate.

The University of Limerick will conduct a pre-qualification assessment process to identify a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 highest scoring candidates, subject to their being sufficient number of prequalified applicants. Applicants are advised to refer to the Suitability Assessment Questionnaire.

The Authority reserves the right to terminate the process and any discussion at any time. The Authority shall not be obliged to enter into a contractor with any tenderer.
