Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

The trailer will support all the functions of mobile breast screening. The trailer

must be as self-contained and self-supporting of the functions of the unit as

possible. The unit will visit designated sites with temporary or permanent service

connection points for power, water, drainage and data. As far as possible, the

technical and functional specification should be sufficiently compatible with our

existing units to provide for integration into our existing fleet.

The unit needs to be robust yet approachable and accessible to women aged 50-

70 years, the general public and the disabled. The interior design should convey a

bright, comfortable environment that is welcoming and reassuring. As such, the

equipment and furnishings must be hardwearing and of a high standard.

The entire lifetime of the mobile unit will be spent in all weather conditions and at

a variety of secure and insecure locations. The design should incorporate security

and vandal resistant features and should allow for a life expectancy of the unit of

    at least ten years.

This unit will house Siemens digital mammography (DM) equipment. The

mechanical, electrical and environmental specifications for the operation of this

equipment are demanding and it is essential that your experience of previous

builds and current design proposals demonstrate a capability to ensure room

temperature is maintained in all weather conditions and in the event of mains

    power loss.

The initial requirement is for the provision of one mobile unit in 2015 with a further

3 more units required throughout the lifetime of this agreement (4 years).

In order to be considered for award, service providers MUST be in a position to

deliver and commission a fully functional mobile breast screening trailer unit by no

later than Dec 2015, ideally by 30 Nov 2015.

The contracting authority does not guarantee that any minimum volume of product

or service will be procured as a result of this ITT.
