The aim is to produce a centre to demonstrate excellence in reuse practice including the construction process. 4. Non-standard Construction Materials:
Projects incorporating elements of non-standard construction such as hempcrete walling.
5.Innovation
Projects that seek to demonstrate innovative and sustainable technologies.
The project is the refurbishment of the boiler house building. It is a steel framed structure with external walls and roof consisting of single skin metal cladding with glazed panels at high level. There is a two storey section of the building at the northern end which is clad externally with brick. The refurbished boilerhouse building will accommodate a café, café kitchen, education and training room, fashion workshop, furniture workshop, cycling workshop, paint workshop, toilets, plant areas, Eco store, exhibition space and staff accommodation. The site consists of the following elements: Water Reservoir, District Heating Boiler House and Chimney, Redundant Tanks and Pumps. For more details visit: http://rediscoverycentre.ie/WISER_Life.aspx
