    Lot 1 – Bicycle Maintenance & Related Services

    An Post is seeking a suitable service provider who can provide a scheduled annual inspection of all bicycles at each of the 25 An Post locations. The inspections may result in the necessity to service a bicycle(s) on site during the same visit or if more complex, the bicycle(s) may need to be taken off site for repair and returned by the service provider. An Post will also require a responsive service where a call will be placed by An Post to the service provider to carry out a bicycle repair service.

    Lot 2 – Supply of Spare Parts

    An Post is seeking a suitable service provider who can supply various spare parts that are required for all bicycles operating nationally on the An Post fleet.

    Total quantity or scope:

    An Post is a major commercial organisation providing a wide range of services which encompass postal, distribution and financial services. An Post delivers to 2.1 million business and residential addresses every working day. An Post use bicycles as one of the methods for the delivery of mail.

    An Post propose to appoint one service provider for the repair & maintenance of official An Post bicycles in the greater Dublin area and one service provider for the supply of spare parts and other related services.

    An Post will structure and award the tender in two separate lots. Suppliers may express their interest in one or both lots. An Post will award each lot to a single supplier. An Post reserve the right to award both lots to one supplier.

    An Post has approximately 1,567 bicycles on fleet that are located across all 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland, with Dublin having the largest volume of all counties (702 bicycles). Of the 702 bicycles located in Dublin, these are positioned across 25 locations in Dublin (see table on Page 4).

    The majority of our bicycle fleet is made up of the Pashley bicycle models although there are also a small number of Swedish Biria and German Monarch bicycles in use.

    The framework agreement(s) will be awarded for a five year period commencing in Q3 of 2015.

    An essential element of this requirement is the recording process on all bicycles where inspections and/or repairs have taken place for Health & Safety purposes.

    An Post plan to put in place a replacement policy for the replacement of bicycles and we will require the successful service provider to manage the decommissioning of bicycles that are beyond service/repair or have reached the agreed age for replacing.
