    1. Córas Iompair Éireann operates public transport bus and rail services from various locations nationwide. For the most recent full year, total transport journeys among the three operating companies were as follows:

    a. Iarnród Éireann – 36.9m

    b. Bus Éireann – 78.72m

    c. Dublin Bus – 118m

    2. It is intended to award a licence to the successful tenderer in respect of the provision of soft drink, confectionery and snack vending machines at such public transport locations to serve the passenger requirement. Currently there are 161 vending machines on CIE property nationwide. Where there is scope for further opportunities for locating vending machines, these will be explored. Where the business does not support, or the vending machine site is required for operational reasons, machines may be removed.

    This is a non-mandatory notice for a service concession run by Irish Rail on behalf of CIE. CIE currently has 161 identified locations for the placement of Vending Machines for provision of soft drinks, confectionery and snacks. CIE is seeking a contractor to fulfil the potential of these sites and exploit the maximum revenue return to CIE through a fully managed service

    Contract duration is 3 years with an option to extend for an additional 2 years at CIE’s discretion.
