    Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

    St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra wishes to tender for the services of suitability qualified catering service providers. This service concession calls for a full catering service (Breakfast, Lunch, Coffee Breaks and events), on a Monday to Friday basis, potentially to some 1,800 fulltime students, 350 part time students 400 employees based at its Drumcondra location, Dublin. Estimated annual turnover is between €0.7m -€1.1m.

    The DCU Incorporation Programme is the planned coming together of St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra (SPD), Mater Dei Institute of Education (MDI) and Church of Ireland College of Education (CICE) with Dublin City University (DCU).

    This programme reflects the shared vision of the four institutions. It is also closely aligned with the National Strategy for Higher Education and with recommendations from the Review on Structures for Initial Teacher Education.

    The DCU Incorporation Programme will deliver:

    The largest critical mass of initial teacher education expertise in Ireland.

    A continuum of teacher education from early childhood through Primary and Secondary to third and fourth Level.

    An enhanced Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences that will incorporate the combined strengths of the four institutions, providing new opportunities for future students.

    The DCU Incorporation Programme will build on the complementary strengths of the four institutions in delivering a differentiated student and staff experience, underpinned by effective implementation of the transformation process.

    The proposed service concession will be for a period of a single 12 month period. It is intended to retender the requirement within the next 12 months to accommodate a consolidated catering service requirement for the newly established DCU College incorporation programme.

    The subject matter of this competition constitutes a service concession, in that the successful economic operator will be remunerated for the delivery of the required services through sales to members of staff. Candidates are reminded that the economic risk inherent to the delivery of the required service will rest fully with the successful concessionaire. The Contracting Authority offer no guarantee, express or implied, the commercial viability or profitability of this proposed concession. It is emphasised that the successful concessionaire will be expected to propose a financial contribution, payable to the Contracting Authority for the right to exploit the service.
