The Groundwater Mapping and Characterisation Project require a consultant hydrogeologist who will work with the GSI to develop, undertake and supervise the project. The tasks will include: undertaking and supervising hydrogeological mapping and characterisation; reviewing how hydrogeological and geological processes influence permeability and porosity of aquifers and subsoil deposits/geomorphological landforms; development of extrapolation methods/predictive modelling in order to assign likely hydrgeological parameters and characteristics to other, similar areas. The position will include a project management role in terms of both technical (robust deliverables, quality and consistency) and management (time and budget) oversight. It is envisaged that the role will also include significant interaction with stakeholders as required, especially during any project development, data collection, fieldwork and data dissemination phases.

The Groundwater Mapping and Characterisation Project require a subsoils/geomorphology geoscientist to work with the GSI to aid the design, undertaking and supervision of the project. The tasks will include: undertaking and supervising the subsoils/geomorphological mapping and characterisation; reviewing how erosive and depositional glacial processes (e.g. abrasion, deformation, glaciotectonic, glaciofluvial, glaciolacustrine, paraglacial) influence the permeability and porosity of subsoil deposits/geomorphological landforms and the underlying bedrock; development of extrapolation methods/predictive modelling in order to assign likely porosity/permeability characteristics to other, similar areas. There is also likely to be significant interaction with stakeholders as required, especially during any project development, data collection, fieldwork and data dissemination phases.

The Groundwater Programme require hydrogeologists/geoscientists (up to two positions) who will work with the GSI on: the Groundwater Mapping and Characterisation Project; interpreting and reporting of existing and newly collected data; and to undertake/oversee updating and improvement of the existing databases and maps, including the collection of additional data. The position will require working between the different projects that are on-going in the Groundwater Programme to ensure that data, maps and products are consistent. It is envisaged that the position will also assist in the management (technical and administrative) of some of the projects. The role will include interaction with stakeholders as required, especially during any project development, data collection, fieldwork and data dissemination phases.
up to 2
The Groundwater Mapping and Characterisation Project requires full time data management/GIS services who will work with the GSI to undertake and/or supervise the organisation of the Groundwater Programme’s data and production of the GIS outputs and methodologies, which use ESRI ArcGIS formats. It is envisaged that the role will also include developing alternative means of acquiring data, and accessing/publishing data. The position will require interaction with stakeholders as necessary, including providing in-house training on the data management/GIS systems.

The Groundwater Programme requires full time Graduate Geologists/Geoscientists (up to three positions) to assist in the Groundwater Mapping and Characterisation Project and other projects. The Graduate Geologists will undertake office and field-based tasks within the various projects. It is envisaged that the role will also include interaction with stakeholders as required.
