Curraheen Bridge Replacement

Applications are invited from competent Contractors who wish to be included on a tender list for Curraheen Bridge Replacement, on behalf of Cork City Council. Tendering will be a two-stage process involving a pre-qualification questionnaire leading to a shortlist for tender. The works comprise: - Design, installation and maintenance of traffic management plan including road closures, traffic diversions and alteration of existing traffic flows; - Demolition of existing masonry arch bridge; - Accommodation of existing services on bridge throughout works; - Provision of passage for pedestrians and cyclists from one side of the river to the other while works are being undertaken; - Installation of new precast concrete culvert structure; - Installation of rock armour and geotextile in riverbed on both ends of the structure; - Construction of reinforced concrete wing walls; - Waterproofing of structures; - Construction of masonry parapet; - Reinstallation of existing services on new structure; - Construction of footways and cycleways; - Horizontal and vertical realignment of carriageway and footways on both approaches to and departures from the structure; - Installation of road markings. - Liaison with all relevant public bodies, fisheries, environmental bodies and utility companies to facilitate the above works. Tender documents will be dispatched in June 2016 with the works being expected to commence on site in August 2016. The successful applicants will have considerable experience in bridge works to include the demolition of masonry arches and replacement with precast concrete culverts. The successful tenderer will also have considerable experience in road works involving traffic management in urban areas. Pre-Qualification Questionnaires will be qualitatively assessed and a minimum of five tenderers will be invited to tender.
