The Local Enterprise Offices (hereinafter referred to as LEOs) have the primary function of promoting enterprise and assisting the development of micro- businesses (businesses employing 1-10 employees) at local level. LEO supports include financial assistance (subject to eligibility), business advice, mentoring, training and business to business networking. Given the growing importance of the micro-enterprise sector in the Irish economy and in particular to the local economy, the LEOs are involved in the Food Academy Start Programme with Bord Bia and SuperValu, to assist the development of food start-ups in Cork & Kerry. As part of this approach, a food producers showcase, buyers trade event, networking, & public showcase event – entitled the Cork & Kerry Food Forum, has been run over the last number of years with Supervalu & Bord Bia involved in the last few years. This has evolved from a small event to a large showcase event held in 2014 & 2015 in City Hall, Cork. Event co-ordinators are invited to submit written proposals based on their expertise, knowledge and experience for the co-ordination of this event. They should detail their suggested input to such an event outlining their experience with the micro-enterprise food sector including names and contact details of references.
