ENQEIR515 - Supply of Solid State Energy Meters

EirGrid plc as Transmission system operator in the Republic of Ireland is obliged under the Trading and Settlement Code and/or under Licence, issued by the Commission for Energy Regulation to be meter data provider on the electricity transmission network in the Republic. As meter data provider, EirGrid is obliged to provide metering equipment that complies with the provisions of the CER metering code. EirGrid is also obliged to operate and provide for the installation, testing and calibration of a defined set of metering points on the transmission network. EirGrid has a large number of solid state energy meters installed on Ireland’s high voltage electricity transmission grid. These meters are used to record the active, reactive and apparent power supplied to the network by various generators, power supply companies, interconnectors and bulk supply points. EirGrid operates an existing National Control Centre (NCC) and an Emergency Control Centre (ECC) in the republic of Ireland, both of which are equipped with an Itron’s MV90XI meter data acquisition system (MDAS). The recorded data is accessed daily from each meter and brought back via MV90XI, over telecommunications circuits, separately to each of these two central locations where it is processed. EirGrid through its subsidiary SONI, operate a NCC and ECC in Northern Ireland, both of which are equipped with the Landis & Gyr Converge MDAS for daily remote interrogation of Energy Meters. EirGrid Group intends to establish a single vendor framework agreement for the provision of Energy Meters. The contract will be awarded for a period of three years.
