UL0361 - Supply and Installation of additional structured cabling to the University of Limerick's student villages.

Campus Life Services is part of Plassey Campus Centre, the University company established in 1985 to develop and manage residential and communal facilities for the University of Limerick. Campus Life Services have built 5 residential on campus villages which provide 2,500 rooms in purpose designed, attractive housing and ensuite apartment style complexes. To enhance the services provided to the occupants, Campus Life Services would like to wireless enable each of its 5 residential villages. To enable wireless in the villages additional CAT6 cables are required in each of the houses and apartments and this RFT covers the installation of the necessary structured cabling. The supply, configuration and installation of the active components do NOT form part of this tender. Full wireless coverage is required in the houses and apartments in each of the 5 villages. Each access point will require a Cat 6 cable at high level to provide network connectivity to the access point. There is no requirement for power sockets at this location as the access points will be power by POE (Power Over Ethernet). The access points will be located, where possible, in the corridors of the houses or apartments. Two of the villages, Plassey and Kilmurry are house type and the houses are clustered together with one house in the cluster serving as a hub house. Each house will require a minimum of 1 access point and some houses will require 2. The other three villages are blocks of apartments with each block having its own IT hub. Each apartment will require 1 access point. The exact quantities of cables and hubs are listed in the scope of works below. As an option can you also quote for additional structured cabling to support IP TV. This will involve running additional Cat 6 cables to the TV locations in the living rooms adjacent to the coax TV outlets.
