UL0359 - Control & Monitoring Systems for Rhode System Support Facility

The Rhode System Support Facility is a demonstration project to test and validate the provision of a range of system services to The System Operator. At a high level these cover frequency support and voltage support. As it is a demonstration project of approximately 400kVA, it is connected at MV to the ESB Network rather than directly into the transmission system. The plant comprises two different types of dynamic energy storage devices. Each will be installed and tested independently and then combined into a hybrid system and tested. The plant will be installed in Rhode, Co. Offaly. This project is co-funded through Enterprise Ireland by the Irish Government and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under Ireland’s European Structural and Investment Funds Programmes 2014-2020. The project is also funded by RR Projects, Schwungrad Energie and Beacon Power.
