PF11/2014 - Tender proposals for delivery of PEACE lll ‘Peace in the Fleadh’ film Documentary, Sligo

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann will take place in Sligo between 10th and 17th August 2014. Within the Fleadh a Sligo-based peace-building initiative will take place called Peace in the Fleadh. It is comprised of ten projects all of which have a distinct peace building element. Various performances/events associated with the ten projects will be integrated into the overall Fleadh programme in 2014. The overall aim of Peace in the Fleadh is to use the platform of the Fleadh Cheoil to build on previous peace-building work in Co. Sligo using the power of music, song, dance and language to bridge cultural difference, promote understanding and address the legacies of conflict and partition. The Peace in the Fleadh film documentary will record the journey of all those involved in Peace in the Fleadh and will serve as a record of this peacebuilding cultural project. In making the documentary the filmmaker will film participants before during and after Fleadh week when they will be involved in public performance. It will trace their own journey as part of the Fleadh and present the perspective of young Travellers, people from new communities, singers, musicians, dancers, ex-prisoners and their families who were involved in the conflict and the Protestant community in Sligo on the biggest event in the Irish cultural calendar. The work will involve Production of a film of standard broadcast hour duration (55 minutes) which will be shot to broadcast standard (HD), making it suitable for broadcast at a later date. The documentary film will be ready for screening by Monday 1st September and will form the centrepiece of the Peace in the Fleadh closing event which will take place in early September 2014. The documentary will also be delivered on DVD for local and national distribution.
