TENDER FOR THE REMOVAL OF LEACHATE FROM KILLURIN LANDFILL AND HOLMESTOWN WASTE MANAGEMENT FACILITY

This contract is proposed primarily for the purpose of transporting landfill leachate from Killurin Landfill to Wexford County Council’s pumping station at Trinity Street (Wexford Town) for disposal. There may also be a requirement to transport, on a temporary basis, landfill leachate from Holmestown Waste Management Facility. It is expected that, by the time this contract is awarded that HWMF will be connected to the public sewer, thereby negating the ongoing need to transport leachate by tanker. However, provision is made here for the eventuality that connection to the sewer is delayed for any unforeseen reason. It is anticipated also that there may be some ‘downtime’ on the leachate pumping system (to sewer), or possible ‘downtime’ on the landfill cell pumps, that might impose a requirement for temporary, intermittent tankering, either from the leachate treatment plant or directly from the landfill cells.
