SLNCR001 - ANALYSIS & DEVELOPMENT STUDY for the development of the Sligo, Leitrim and Northern Counties Railway, into a Multi Use Trail

The RFT has ended, you cannot answer the invitation.

The Sligo, Leitrim and Northern Counties Railway ran from Collooney in Co. Sligo to Enniskillen in Co. Fermanagh, a distance of 42 miles. It was the only Irish railway to remain in private ownership during its life. It closed in 1957, when the bulk of its permanent way was purchased by the landowners whose property it crossed. The Group is now inviting tenders from suitable consultants and contractors with a view to preparing an Analysis & Development Plan for the conversion of the existing permanent way to a Multi Use Trail for use by Walkers, Cyclists, Horse Riders and the Mobility Challenged. It is envisaged that the Analysis & Development Plan would act as a resource in encouraging landowner, community and agency support for the project, as well as providing a road map for the advancement and implementation of the project.
