Tenders are sought for the supply, delivery and installation of one Laser System for NUI Galway. The laser is to be used to inscribe laser induced carbon structures (graphene) inside and under the surface of polymer materials. The laser process is completely novel and creation of a new original integrated system with beam delivery is the objective of the four (4) year research project. Therefore, the beam delivery system, and translation stage for the sample, will be designed and optically, and digitally integrated by the researchers employed on the project, who will also design the computer control for the complete system. The beam delivery system will control the beam profile, polarization state, and scan speed of the laser focal point. It comprises a spatial light modulator, high numerical aperature objectives and a 4D translation stage. The laser needs to control the energy per pulse by altering pulse duration. The combination of reprate and scan speed controls the thermal delivery to the polymer sample. This tender is for the Laser System only.
