Carry out a feasibility study to identify potential viable and long-term sustainable housing solutions across rural regions in Donegal. The following elements should be taken into account during the development and undertaking of the study: Realise the potential in latent housing stock in rural Donegal with a view to enabling our own ambitions in relation to balancing regeneration and repopulation and to maximise the supply of rural housing opportunities; Capitalise on opportunities being presented by the growth in remote working, investment in Digital Hubs and improved connectivity including high speed broadband connectivity; Address the ongoing challenge of young people moving from rural areas and not returning to live there, losing talent and potential in rural communities. It deprives rural areas of a cohort who could act as key contributors to society, to their communities and to the local economy; Address dereliction and loss of vernacular built heritage in the county by exploring opportunities to restore, refurbish and repurpose dwellings that are vacant, unused and/or abandoned; and Identify key recommendations to progress a range of initiatives that will achieve that stated purposes above.
