RFQ2288 - Facilitator to design, develop and deliver Cross-Community Events for the Ulster Scots and Irish language Communities on Shared Language and Culture to improve Cross-Community Relations

The facilitator will deliver cross-community Irish Language and Ulster Scots events in each of the 7 DEAs. These 7 Irish/Ulster Scots language and culture awareness events will include speakers and cultural activities to enhance learning of the cultures jointly and de-politicise perceptions currently held about them. The events can be delivered face to face or online if required to meet Covid regulations and include; 1 - A talk on place-names specific to the respective DEA and how they reflect Irish language and Ulster Scots heritage 2 - Music-based workshop/performance linking up online with another language community, such as that of Isle of Lewis, Anglesey or Isle of Man demonstrating how people from different religious backgrounds and political viewpoints share their passion for language, music and cultural history The facilitator of the events will ideally have a command of the Irish Language, knowledge of Irish culture and language, as well as good knowledge and awareness of Ulster Scots culture and tradition. The appointee will be competent in communications, particularly around projects relating to Cross-Community relations and motivating contributors to participate and engage with the events. They will have an awareness of cultural sensitivities and work in a manner which takes these into account. The expression of interest model would be utilised to secure a specific skill set from participants, to enable the events to focus on transferring skills across Irish language and Ulster Scots traditions. The recruitment exercise based on the expression of interest model will be overseen and in collaboration with the Irish Language Department of Newry Mourne & Down District Council.
