CON/0032/2020 - Proposed External Upgrade of Headquarters Building at McKee Barracks, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7

The project comprises the Proposed External Upgrade of Headquarters Building at McKee Barracks, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7. McKee Barracks is designated as an Architectural Conservation Area on the Dublin City Council Development Plan and the HQ building is designated with 'Protected Status'. The external envelope requires extensive refurbishment, including full replacement of the roof coverings, rainwater goods, repair/replacement of windows and repointing brickwork and stonework. The project scope includes replacement of existing clay roof tiles, with new clay tiles, together with new ridge capping's, clay specials, leadwork and decorative finials; Existing roof structure is to be replaced where existing found to be in poor condition; Existing windows are to be restored/replaced; External brickwork replacement, where identified and detailed; all external elevations are to be repointed; cills and cappings are to be refurbished with replacement where identified; Existing chimneys are to be taken down and rebuilt; Existing rainwater goods are to be refurbished with replacement to sections which are currently missing/damaged. In order to ensure the continued operation of the Barracks a high level of management, safety and security control procedures will be required on site.
