A chara,

Longford County Council, through Longford Tourism and the County Longford Heritage Office and Creative Ardagh, are inviting submissions from suitably-qualified consultant(s) to develop a feasibility study for the Heritage Centre in the historic village of Ardagh Co. Longford, operating as Ardagh Heritage and Creativity Centre. The procurement will be managed by Longford County Council on behalf of the project team.

The building is currently leased by Creative Ardagh, operating as the Ardagh Heritage and Creativity Centre. Creative Ardagh host a range of classes and events in the building thoughout the year, with an emphasis on creative learning.

The primary aim of the study is to develop a new, engaging cultural heritage tourism product for the site, incorporating the needs of the village for a heritage centre, the Creative Ardagh programme of workshops, classes and events.

The feasibility study shall:

  1. Review the existing building, its uses and layout, to provide a logical and attractive means of accessing and manoeuvring around the building.
  2. Develop proposal(s) for cultural tourism within the site, based on the history, cultural and natural heritage of Ardagh village and its surrounds, including the legend of Midir and Étain. The proposals shall consider the needs of key audiences, including historical groups, active age groups, schools and multi-generational families.
  3. Develop proposals for practical upgrades to the heritage centre display and interpretation, that can be future-proofed and practical, without an overreliance on technology.
  4. Develop proposals for integrating the creative workshops and outputs of Creative Ardagh, including Scéalta Beo.

Further information on the building itself and its uses are included in the explanatory tender document included with the notice. The budget for this project is limited, to a maximum of €8000 inclusive of VAT and expenses.

The tender proposal must be forwarded by email, supported by CV of previous similar works and supporting documentation must be submitted to eTenders 11:59pm, Friday 21st February 2020.  Please include “Ardagh Heritage Centre Feasibility Study Tender Submission” in the subject line.

We look forward to reading your tender responses.
