General Description of the Works The general scope of works comprises: • Measurement and recording of existing lighting levels in each area. The measurement should be made on the same plane as that used for design. The effect of stray light (e.g. street or moonlight) can be substantial and as far as practicable it should be masked out. Where it cannot be excluded the illuminance from the lighting should be obtained by taking readings at appropriate positions inside the building with all interior lighting switched off. The readings so obtained should be deducted from readings taken at the same positions with the lighting switched on. • Providing suitable protection of work surfaces in the local area i.e. protection from dust and debris. Complete a clean-up including vacuum cleaning of each area upon completion of works. • Disconnection and demounting of existing fittings, • Replacement of existing fluorescent fittings with LED type fittings on a one-for-one basis • Appropriate disposal of existing fittings, fluorescent tubes, emergency lighting batteries, etc. • Erection and wiring of new fittings, installation of DALI lighting controllers (PIR/Photocell) for logical groups of light fittings to provide appropriate control strategies • Replacement of exiting switches with "Push To Make - Retractive Switches" connected to DALI control module to provide on/off/dimming control (where appropriate) to each group of fittings via the DALI lighting controller above. • Upgrade of the emergency lighting fittings to LED (on a like for like basis). The emergency lighting upgrade must not alter the original design certificate for the emergency lighting. At no point shall an emergency light fitting be removed and not replaced with a ‘like for like’ LED emergency light fitting.
