LEE693C - TCD - Request for Proposals for a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the Earth Surface Research Laboratory

A full data management and Laboratory Information Management System ‘LIMS’ solution is required for the ESRL to handle all of its samples and measurement data and associated quality control. The LIMS will incorporate a cloud-based data management solution compatible with the Microsoft Azure Cloud Computing Platform, with scalable capacity over the expected lifetime of the system. The contracting authority understands a server-based, hybrid solution may be needed to deliver a complete solution but automatic cloud-based backup of data must be incorporated. This LIMS is required to support all aspects of the ESRL testing laboratory: sample registration and tracking including use of barcodes, laboratory and sample IDs; preparation and splitting of samples; analysis programming in conjunction with the instrument-specific software; quality control charting and reporting; auditing and quality management; and compilation of data reports for the end user. All processes need to be recorded in the LIMS such that verification and validation of processes and actions are captured and saved. A throughput in the order of five to ten thousand samples per annum is anticipated.
