TCC00597T - Ardfinnan Bridge Refurbishment Works 2019

The Works include the repair and refurbishment of Ardfinnan Bridge in Ardfinnan, Co. Tipperary. Works will involve repair and replacement of masonry to abutments, arches,spandrel walls and parapets.There are also works to the river bed including in-stream scour mitigation measures. Ardfinnan Bridge is a National Monument (Ref CT 20) (Ref No. TS088-001002) and is listed on the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH) (Ref No. 22126003) and so any works proposed to the structure must take due consideration of its status. Method Statements for the works impacting on the structural fabric must be reviewed and approved by a project Ecologist and Tipperary County Council. The site is located in a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) of the River Suir and the works must therefore be constructed with particular attention to the protected ecological species. All works in the river bed must be completed by 30 September 2019. There are also requirements relating to archaeology and conservation as outlined in the Works Requirements. Works are as set out in the Tender Documents Volume A, Volume C and Volume D. Note 1: The inclusion of any of the above structures is dependent on available funding. A final decision on the structures to be included will be made prior to contract award Note 2: The Contractor should allow in their programme for all in river bridge works to be undertaken at the beginning of the programme in order to comply with IFI and NPWS requirements.
