N69 Mountcoal J54G - N69 Mountcoal Pavement Improvement Project

The scheme is known as: N69 Mountcoal Pavement Improvement Project The Employer is Kerry County Council. This project is located on the N69 National Secondary Route just South of Listowel, in Co. Kerry. The sections of the route proposed for improvement are located in the townlands of Coolnaleen and Banemore, just 2km outside of Listowel within the 100kph speed. The surrounding area is a mixture of private residential and agricultural. The scheme intersects two local road junctions as identified in Fig 1.1. The terrain through this area is relatively flat with changes in elevation across the scheme of approximately 40 metres. The N69 Mountcoal Pavement Improvement project comprises an overlay of the existing N69 to address issues of structure and surface regularity. The surfacing works will involve laying of regulating, binder layer and surfacing course. The N69 at this location is subject to a 100kph speed limit and carries estimated traffic of 5,662 AADT, including 2.4% HGVs. The projects runs through two junctions of note, that of the Six Crosses and Mountcoal junction. The scope of works for the N69 Mountcoal Pavement Improvement Project is as follows: • Site Clearance Works • Verge Treatment • Pavement Surfacing Works • Milling of Existing Pavement at Tie ins • Road Marking and Road Studs • Drainage Works • Ancillary Works • Traffic Management. The full scope of the works and the obligations of the Contractor are to be ascertained by reference to the Works Requirements and the Contract Documents as a whole. The works must be organised in such a fashion as to minimise any potential hazards or inconveniences to all users.
