2017.08.03 WORKS CONTRACTOR. - Works to form new Cardiac Catheter Laboratories and a new Cardiothoracic Ward on the first floor of existing Block 2A and Block 2C at UHG.

Works to form new Cardiac Catheter Laboratories and a new Cardiothoracic Ward on the first floor of existing Block 2A and Block 2C at UHG. The works are to be carried out on the site of a live acute hospital and there will be other contracts being carried out on site simultaneously. The works are sited in the middle of the main hospital floor, in the immediate vicinity of functioning clinical areas. It is proposed to implement the works in three phases. Phase 1: Cardiac Catheter Laboratories (462 sqm) Stripping out an existing Coronary Care Unit and re-planning it to provide two new Cardiac Catheter laboratory suites. The works are to be carried out directly adjacent to two existing Cardiac Catheter Labs, which must remain functioning during the works.The new CT scanning equipment to be installed in the Cardiac Catheter Labs will be delivered during the contract and the Main Contractor will be required to cooperate with the Suppliers and provide the required builders works and mechanical and electrical services to facilitate installation and commissioning of the scanner and associated equipment. Phase 2.1: Enabling works Before the Cardiothoracic works can start, enabling works must be carried out: Fire safety works must be undertaken in the administrative area to the east of the new Cardiothoracic Ward, to facilitate future escape from the ward. An existing staff toilet and locker room area is also to be re-planned to provide a new staff team room and toilets. Phase 2.2: Cardiothoracic Ward (639 sqm) When the enabling works have been completed, the Contractor will be given possession of the site. The works involve stripping out the Administrative area and re-planning it for use as a Ward with new M&E plant and services. The works will require access to the occupied Ward on the ground floor under the new Ward to carry out certain drainage connections.
