Introduction

 

The Irish Film Institute is Ireland’s national cultural institution for film. It aims to exhibit the finest in independent, Irish and international cinema, preserve Ireland’s moving image heritage at the IFI Irish Film Archive, and encourage engagement with film through its various educational programmes.

 

 

Project aims

 

To offer our audiences a quality cultural experience in a space that is fit for purpose, safe, comfortable and sustainable. The intention is to completely refurbish the two oldest cinemas at the venue with new, more ergonomic seats and new carpets, a soft furnishing upgrade, improved floor lighting and acoustic panelling.

 

 

Planned Outcomes

 

To provide a better quality Arts Experience for audiences in more comfortable cinemas, with better quality seats, more leg room, better sound, whilst simultaneously eliminating the Health & Safety concerns of tripping hazards associated with worn carpets.
