This equipment will be used within the newly formed Food Quality and Sensory Science department as part of the flavor chemistry facility at Teagasc Food Research Centre, Moorepark, Co. Cork, Ireland. This facility is part of the Sensory Food Ireland Network and is managed by Dr Kieran Kilcawley. The facility is primarily involved in research in the flavor of foods and beverages but also provides a service to industry and collaborates with industry and academia nationally and internationally. We are tendering for a Comprehensive GC-TOFMS to support identification of odour active volatiles in complex food matrices. This instrumentation will provide an increase in sensitivity and acquisition rates over our existing quadrupole mass spectrometers and increased separation and resolution potential from the use of 2-dimensional chromatography. We are also looking for a flexible rail based autosampler that can handle multiple extraction techniques (solid phase micro-extraction and In-Tube Extraction) with prep and run in sequence.
