Modifications, extension and associated site works to the Candle Community Trust Building, Lynch’s lane, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10

The proposed scheme will entail internal modifications and a new extension to the existing Candle Community Trust building. The project will not increase the occupancy of the existing building or any expansion of the services already provided by the Trust but rather the modernisation of the organisation’s building to meet their current demands as well as meet current building standards. The proposed scheme involves the reorganisation of the site layout around the redeveloped and extended building. The finished building and adjacent grounds are intended to be used for social, recreational and educational purposes by the inhabitants of the locality, it is not intended to be used for profit or gain. Works to the existing building include: - demolition of an existing computer room to create a more generous open-plan Community Room - The existing woodwork room will be reconfigured to provide an additional Art Room. This existing large room will also make way for a new Graphics Room and IT Room - The extent of toilet accommodation is being reduced in the existing building to help facilitate wide, clear circulation routes and the provision of a new fire escape route through to a new exit - Minor works to the existing elevations - to include some new window opes and sliding shutters for security when the building is locked at night Proposed extension: - Is a single-storey extension with total floor area –205m² - Will provides additional counselling rooms, offices and other specialised rooms as requested by the client - Provides a new reception area for use by the overall building with a new accessible WC compliant with the provisions set out in TGD Part M.
