Proposed Design and Refurbishment of Enniscorthy Promenade Playgrounds 1 & 2

Wexford County Council intend refurbishing playground 1&2 at The Promenade, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. The site is located at the end of a narrow road adjacent the Riverside Park Hotel. The existing playgrounds attract a large number of visitors throughout the year but particularly during the summer months. Over time, some play elements in playground 1, in particular, have deteriorated due to the elements. The existing playground layout comprises two distinct areas with separate entrances (2 gates for playground 1 and 1 gate for playground 2). Both playgrounds are surrounded by standard anti trap bow top fencing hot dip galvanised and powder coated to BS EN 13438. Playground 1 was designed for younger children in mind, whereas playground 2 is suitable for older children. Playground 1 is the focus of the current refurbishment scheme having suffered the worst effects of wear and tear. Tenderers are requested to submit a design proposal for the replacement of the play equipment outlined below. In addition to the replacement of the above equipment, WCC are seeking four additional pieces of equipment which are to be sensory in type. The following pieces of play equipment from Playground 1are to be removed and replaced with more DURABLE (Non WOOD) elements: • Double Swings (including frame) • See Saw • Central Multi-Use Play Unit Sensory Area • The area for sensory equipment is to be located in playground 1. Access • A new tarmac footpath is to link playground 1 and 2 with a self closing gate (use one of the existing gates being replaced) • Gates 2 and 3 to be replaced with a permanent standard anti trap bow top fence identical to existing. Painting • Paint all the existing and new fencing in Green RAL 6005 or similar • Pedestrian gates to be in Red equivalent Seating in Playground 1 • Replace two in no. seats with HC2023S (Root Fixed) or similar. Varnishing • Re-varnishing of all timber equipment in both playgrounds to be allowed for in the project
