PP1600159 - Learning Support Officer

Learning Support Officer involves providing academic support to students registered with the Disability Service and promoting an institutional approach to academic development, enhancing the overall student experience. The Institute of Technology Tallaght require the provision of a learning support officer for onsite student assistance for the following periods Monday - 3pm to 7pm Wednesday - 9am to 5pm Friday - 9am to 5pm These services are to be provided for the academic period commencing Mid September until Mid December and Mid January until Mid May (the exact dates of which will agreed annually in advance of the commencement of each new acadmenic year. A Learning Support Officer works with students with disabilities in developing learning strategies to maximise the accessibility of course curricula, with particular emphasis in relation to students with SpLD. The Learning Support Officer (LSO) will also advise students in relation to preparation for examinations, study techniques and project and assessment preparation and writing. They will also carry out detailed student needs assessments and liaise with academic staff on course accessibility issues. The LSO will be required to support students with disabilities & specific learning difficulties, both in 1-1 and group sessions. They will also work as part of a team and deal with a diverse and sensitive range of inquiries. They will require proficient keyboard and computer skills, be able to use discretion and initiative, and liaise with other support services within IT Tallaght. They must possess a degree or postgraduate qualification in Education and must have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience working in the area of learning support in third level education.
