Certified Leadership Training for Line Leaders and Supervisors involved in the processing or manufacturing of Food and Drink

The FDII Skillnet, has a requirement for Certified Leadership training courses to address key skills gaps for both Line Leaders and Supervisors who are involved in the manufacturing or processing of food and drink products. Line Leaders: Line Leaders in food and drink processing and manufacturing plants have responsibility over a team of operatives on a specific part of the production line. Typically, they come from operative backgrounds and have been promoted to Line Leader, however, the vast majority have never received any training in leadership or people management skills. The core learning outcomes for this programme are to help Line Leaders understand what is required of a Line Leader, be better able to handle conflict, develop communication skills, learn how to deal with people issues on the line and learn how to have difficult discussions with people or teams while on the line. Supervisors: Supervisors in food and drink processing and manufacturing plants manage the daily production function particularly in relation to planned and unplanned work. They liaise with other departments to ensure restraints on production are dealt with a timely fashion. They attend daily operations meetings and report on any issues constraining production. Typically they come from production / operations backgrounds, however, their role requires them to work with all functions across the organisation. From a Leadership perspective, core learning outcomes for this programme are to help Line Leaders understand what is required of a Supervisor. This will include elements around People Management, Communication, Conflict Management and Financial awareness For both programmes, certification for this programme is vital to improve learning and ensure deeper engagement with the trainees. In terms of duration, expected duration will be 2-3 days per programme support by a project to reinforce key learnings.
