Haulbowline Island East Tip Remediation Project –Contract for Deconstruction, Dismantling and Site Preparation.

Cork County Council is advancing the remediation of the East Tip on Haulbowline Island, Cork Harbour, Ireland which will comprise of a number of different Contracts to address the historic deposition of steel slag and other material from a former steelworks site on the island, and develop the site into a public amenity. The East Tip consists of 9 ha of reclaimed land located on the eastern side of Haulbowline Island located in Cork Harbour, between Ringaskiddy and Cobh. Cork County Council intends to engage a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to clear, dismantle, deconstruct and stockpile items and structures within the East Tip site. This contract relates to the site preparation, dismantling and deconstruction on site of specified buildings and installations located on the East Tip, the collection and stockpile of specified items of loose, above ground scrap material or other items located on the East Tip. While certain materials wil be required to be removed off-site, it should be noted that the majority of the metal waste will be retained on-site in segregated stockpiles. The Contractor will assume the roles and duties of PSCS and comply with Health & Safety Regulation, Legislation and international best practice. A site specific Occupational Health System will be developed by the Contractor.
